The artistic aim is to create interferences between different art forms and cultures in higly differing ambiences. We try to discover the specific energy which may rise by becoming conscious of that what is not identic in between different art forms and cultures.
Theatre S A L P U R I was founded 1993 in Berlin by the Korean actress Soogi Kang & the German director Dietmar Lenz with he Dance-Theatre "PIRI - The cry of the soul ..." to the music of YUN, ISANG : "Piri" for Oboe solo.
Theater Salpuri works on three levels :

I. Visual Theatre:
indoor - outdoor
Performance - Parade - Procession - Installation
The interplay between dance / acting / music / performance / installations / objects / figures / costumes creates a dramatic total effect both with and within the performance space, a scenic audio-visual theatre dialogue.

II. Acting- and Dance-Theatre
The centre of our work is the intercultural dialogue.
Different acting - methods from east-asia, latin-america and europe meet within the rehearsel-process with actors/dancers from different nations. Today no longer seperate cultures do exist. What we see today is that in all existing medias a cross-over of cultural forms, technics and identities, traditional and modern, do happen. We think that today there doesn? exist any longer a pure asiatic or european theatre. What exists is a kind of patchwork-identity. Actors with different artististic and cultural backgrounds come togehter with the aim to create a theatrical event during a rehearsel-process and on stage, which may result in a new form of theatre : a forth - world - theatre.

III. Dance- and Theatre-pedagogics
Seminars and workshops in Acting, Dance & Movement, Sound & Movement, Movement & Objects & Space, Improvisation.
